Baitala Deula Temple was built in the 8th century and the region was a part of the Kalinga Empire. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chamunda and is also known as Tinimundia Deula on account of the presence of three spires on its top. These three spires represent the three major powers of Goddess Chamunda.
As the temple boasts of its beautiful carvings and intricate designs and patterns, it is of great architectural importance. You can also find several inscriptions in the Odia script on the walls of the temple. The temple is built out of stone in the style of Kalinga architecture. You can also find the images of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and Goddess Parvati within the temple complex.
