If you are on your way to Karwar then don’t forget to stop by at this marvellous tourists attraction at the Rabindranath Tagore beach in Karwar. The Rock Garden in Karwar showcases the glimpse of its district, Uttara Kannada through artistically shapes carved out in rocks. These rocks, according to officials of the Mines and Geology Department, were formed about 3000-4000 years ago. Such rocks are very hard to break. With the help of artists, the officials decided to use these rocks to create an eco-garden to attract tourists. Once you reach the garden, a fort-like wall, with sculptures of creative art will welcome you. Inside the rock garden, you will see cement sculpture of different tribal communities. These communities belong to the Uttara Kannada district like gonda, yakshagana, halakki, dongri. The Rock garden of Karwar beautifully depicts their lifestyle, animals they pet, especially the lifestyle of fishermen tribe and many more. These rock models are very well made and look like real life structures. The main attraction here is the Fishermen family structure and crocodile structure which you will see at the entrance of this Rock Garden.
