The Mini Zoo at Haddo, Port Blair was once famous for its crocodile breeding programs. True to its name, this small zoo dotted with stately rosewood, padauk and maple trees now houses monkeys, a salt water crocodile, Malayan box turtle and birds like the Andaman dark serpent eagle, white bellied sea eagle, parrots and the ‘near threatened’ Nicobar pigeon. After the opening of the Chidiyatapu Biological Park, most of the animals, except these, have been moved there. On request, they also show documentaries in the adjoining auditorium. A visit to the Mini Zoo need not be on the top of the list.
