Built by Feroze Shah in 1360 A.D, the Shahi Qila is a majestic fort located on the banks of river Gomti. The inner gate of this fort is 26.5 ft. high and 16 ft. wide. The central gate is 36 ft. high. Atop this, there is a huge dome. The sturdy stones used in the construction give this building an imposing look. This fort was constructed over the ruins of Kerar Kot Fort. The major highlights of the fort are – a mosque, a Minar and a beautiful Turkish Hamam. Constructed with expert corners and perfect symmetry, the fort provides enchanting view of river Gomti and the Jaunpur city.
