Jatayu Theme Park is the third attraction of the three in the village of Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Jatayu is a large vulture/Gidd mentioned in the Hindu Epic Ramayana. As per the Epic, it fell down from the skies in this village.
The park has a small hill of rocks.
There is a statue of the bird on the highest point of the rocks.
There is a well maintained garden all around the rocky hill.
One has to climb metallic steps to reach the top. There are no elevators.
There are two sections at the top, the view point with a small temple like structure, and, the highest point where the actual statue of the Jatayu is installed.
But, the entrance to the Jatayu’s location is restricted and the stairs are separate and locked. I am not sure on what occasions they are opened.
The view at the top is breathtaking. One can see most of the houses of the village, fields and some hills. Of course, this includes the NANDI and the Veerabhadra Swamy Temple itself.
There is a Andhra Pradesh Tourism counter at the entrance to the park.
The entrance fee is 10/- Indian Rupees as of 10 November 2018.
In the same building, there are toilets for public use. I asked and was told they are open for public.
There is a store which sells ice creams, soft drinks and water. They might, possibly, have other snacks, too.
And, there are some benches around the garden at the base to sit. One can have a pleasant time here.
But, one thing lacking here is the shade. There are hardly any big trees here. I miss the shade of a fully grown tree!
The parking is outside on the road for both two and four wheelers.
