Description

INS Chapal was an active warship with Indian navy and the star of naval warfare during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. INS Chapal is now decommissioned, converted into a museum and attracts visitors in the city of Karwar, North Canara. INS Chapal was responsible for bombarding Karachi Port and enforcing naval blockade in Arabian Sea during 1971 Indo-Pak war. This crippled Pakistan’s commercial capital and aided in India’s eventual victory. Crew of INS Chapal won 2 Param Veer Chakras and 8 Veer Chakras, some of the highest military honors in India.
