A very beautiful, elaborate and breathtaking mandir (temple) to attend if you’re looking for an abode of God in the Jamaica section of Queens. The facilities here are very convenient and the design of the mandir is very unique, unlike any other church I’ve visited.
There is a kitchen right behind the altar to clean everything up once the temple service has been completed. The lower level has a large seating area and a kitchen (a substantial size for catering) where events and other types of gatherings can be held. There is also a stage downstairs, where I presume some shows and recitals may take place.
The main floor seats about 200-300 people, which is a sizable space and the altar has been built at back of the mandir. A cathedral ceiling covers the mandir adorned with several majestic chandeliers installed across the length. The first time I visited this temple was for a function in the heat of summer and there was also central air conditioning, which made it very comfortable to sit among 150+ people.
It seems there is a large youth community here that offers lessons to teach others how to play instruments and vocal training to contribute to the mandir. Any activity or form of action that enriches the lives of others through religion is something that is worthy of praise. An absolutely stunning temple and sets itself apart from the rest. I definitely look forward to my next visit here. 🙂
